Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints to develop precise estimates for electrical systems and installations. Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including material costs, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing, scope of work, and contractual terms to ensure competitive bids and profitable projects. Conduct thorough review of construction drawings to identify potential issues or discrepancies related to electrical systems and ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and local electrical building codes. Manage material cost estimating and procurement strategies to optimize cost control while maintaining quality standards. Utilize Bluebeam for digital markup of drawings and documentation management throughout the estimating process. Assist in the development of project budgets, monitor costs during construction, and implement effective cost management practices to stay within scope. Review contracts, change orders, and project specifications to accurately reflect scope changes and ensure proper documentation. Lead construction drawing reviews with design teams to clarify details that impact estimating accuracy. Maintain clear communication with clients regarding project scope, estimates, timelines, and potential cost-saving opportunities. Requirements Proven experience in heavy industrial or commercial electrical estimating within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and electrical building codes such as NEC. Proficiency with estimating software like HeavyBid or equivalent; experience with Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Familiarity with NFPA 70 compliance standards for electrical safety and installation practices. Skilled in negotiation techniques to secure favorable pricing agreements with suppliers and subcontractors. Ability to review construction drawings thoroughly and identify potential issues early in the estimating process. Construction site experience combined with a solid understanding of construction management principles is highly desirable. Excellent client communication skills to present estimates clearly and professionally while fostering positive relationships.
