We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Estimator in Maryland . The Senior Estimator is responsible for the coordination of bid documents, labor productions, subcontractors, vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, project start-up meetings, owner estimates, subcontractors and vendor requisitions and cost to completes.
Responsibilities:
Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work and drawings for his/her portion of a bid and develops a complete understanding of project requirementsAccurately and timely performs takeoffs and calculations and analyzes data for assigned scope of work Conducts field visits to gather relevant data on project site conditions, verify production rates and learn new construction Adjusts bid methods and incorporate this information accordingly during the bidding process Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors on the best deal, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedureDevelop pricing strategies for assigned scopes and price the bid Serve as Lead Estimator, leading project bids with responsibility for all project price and document submittals Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project Makes decisions on mitigation and price risks Interfaces extensively with the Contracts department to address any risks or issues with the contract Coordinate with Business Development, Engineering and Operations teams to determine final bid price and construction methodology Drafts proposals per RFP specifications with detailed pricing and clarifications Instruct junior estimators to perform supporting task for each bid Manage relationships with client engineers during project Manage relationships with contracted designer on design-build projects
Qualifications:
10+ years of estimating experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, Has experience in performing take-off, pricing, and communicating with subcontractors Has experience in bidding on large scale specialty bridges, preferably cable-stayed bridges Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills a must Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills Track record of achievement and career progression Experience in Primavera, HCSS, On Screen Takeoff (OST) and AGTEK would be advantageous Has experience of local agencies such as
MDOT, VDOT, DC
