Job Description

Grondin and Sons is seeking a proven leader in the heavy earth work industry to join the team as an Estimator. The position will involve the review of proposals, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work to estimate. This position will involve coordination with multiple team members during the estimating process to verify the availability of resources to successfully bid the project.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience performing quantity takeoff from civil, structural, plumbing, and site electric plans. Review, comprehend and apply geotechnical and environmental reports to the estimating process. Determine subcontractor scopes and solicit relevant pricing. Experience with development and assembly of Request for Proposals. Utilize plans and/or schematic design documents to properly evaluate project scope. Coordinate with other team members to develop an overall estimate on larger projects. Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and company resources. Maintain thorough and accurate records for all estimates. Evaluate and adjust estimates to reflect for potential safety risks and the necessary mitigations. Develop innovative means and methods for completing projects to increase competitiveness and margins. Coordinate transition of successful bids to the project management team and maintain communication to identify changes in scope or estimate deficiencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate shall have a four-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience. 5 -10 years of estimating civil earth work and underground utility projects or equivalent field experience Requires strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling & estimating software, and MS Office.
