The primary focus of a Project Controls Estimator I will include the development and review of capital cost estimates, construction cost estimates and/or service estimates for a variety of different market sectors including Waste, Power and Industrial. Development of these estimates will typically require application of a crew-based approach including formation of crews from multiple disciplines along with performing quantity takeoffs and estimates from design drawings. Other responsibilities include data gathering and analysis, cost estimate database management, preparing basis and assumptions documentation. Specific responsibilities may include the following: Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates Work on estimates that may be order of magnitude for planning purposes, preliminary for evaluation/study purposes, or definitive for proposal or proposal comparison purposes Demonstrate understanding and ability to interrupt construction plans and specifications with respect to preparing cost estimates Take responsibility for completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters Work on estimates that may reflect any part or total project, or changes to the project Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data upon which to base estimates Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Certifications (one or more):
AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT
Knowledge and proficiency of estimating software (e.g., Sage, Assemble, RS Means) Experience in construction industry specifically the Waste, Power or Industrial sectors Ability to interpret construction schedules #LI-EV1 Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to general construction industry methods, terminology, working practices and organizational structure Familiar with Microsoft Office, cost estimating and project control software Good verbal and written communication skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position What We Believe HDR is our company.
