Job Description
Position Overview:
The Estimating Manager leads the company's estimating efforts and sets the standard for accuracy, consistency, and competitiveness in all bid activity. This role ensures that estimates are not only technically sound but strategically positioned to win work while protecting project margins. By strengthening estimating processes, monitoring performance metrics, and collaborating closely with business development and operations, the Estimating Manager directly supports sustainable and profitable growth across the organization.Key Responsibilities:
Estimating System & Process Excellence:
Maintain and improve the ConEst estimating system and related processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and best practices across all estimates.Scorecard Measurables:
Track and own key Measurables such as estimate turnaround time, bid accuracy variance, and win rate percentage to drive continuous improvement.Job Setup Process Ownership:
Own the process for opening new job numbers with the Office Manager to ensure projects are set up correctly and ready for execution.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delegation:
Lead coordination with project managers, purchasing, office, engineers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors; delegate estimating tasks when appropriate to ensure timely delivery.Bid Win Rate & Competitive Positioning:
Ensure competitive, compelling bid proposals are prepared, submitted on time, and presented effectively to clients to achieve target win rates.Estimate Accuracy & Margin Protection:
Own the accuracy and completeness of all cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to protect project margins and profitability.Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma/GED requiredExperience:
Minimum 1+ year of estimating experienceMust-Have Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency with estimating software Microsoft suite experience (Word, Excel, etc.) Experience with blueprint/drawing software -AutoCAD Preferred Skills & Competencies:
Electrical background Engineering backgroundWork Conditions:
Hours of work: Full-time, Monday to Friday Work environment: Primarily office based with occasional client meetings or job site visits.Compensation and Benefits:
