Job Overview Join our team as a Building Material Sales / Project Sales professional, where your enthusiasm and expertise will drive growth and customer satisfaction in the construction and building industry. In this important role, you will actively engage with clients, understand their project needs, and provide personalized solutions using a wide range of building materials. Your proactive approach will help foster long-term relationships, ensuring projects are completed successfully while promoting our company's reputation for excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the building supply industry, making a visible impact on construction projects and customer success. Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, designers, architects, and other industry professionals to understand their project requirements. Actively promote and sell a diverse range of building materials, including lumber, windows, doors, hardware, and specialty products. Provide guidance on product selection, specs, and installation to ensure customer needs are met professionally and on time. Assist clients in planning and coordinating project timelines by offering timely delivery options and inventory updates. Conduct site visits when necessary to assess project scope and offer on-site consultation for complex or large-scale projects. Follow up with customers post-sale to ensure satisfaction, resolve any issues promptly, and encourage repeat business. Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate order processing, inventory management, and timely delivery. Requirements Proven experience in sales within the building materials or construction industry is highly preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to listen actively and communicate clearly. Ability to understand technical product specs and provide professional advice accordingly. Exceptional math skills are essential in this position. Basic math and geometry will be used daily. Enthusiastic attitude with a proactive approach to identifying sales opportunities and solving customer challenges. Ability to read blueprints and create a material takeoffs from blueprints highly preferred. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple client accounts and project deadlines effectively. Knowledge of local building practices and Michigan Building Code. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members across departments. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for client meetings or site visits as needed.
