Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with a strong background in precision tooling to join our team. You will be responsible for reviewing complex RFQ packages to develop accurate cost estimates for the design and build of aerospace assembly jigs, inspection fixtures, and work-holding solutions. The ideal candidate understands the nuances of aerospace materials (like Invar and aluminum) and the high-tolerance requirements of the industry.
Key Responsibilities RFQ Analysis:
Review and interpret customer 3D CAD models (CATIA), blueprints, and specifications to determine project scope.
Cost Estimation:
Calculate comprehensive labor hours (Design, CNC, Bench, Assembly) and material costs.
Process Planning:
Determine the most efficient manufacturing sequence, including specialized outside services like heat treating, stress relieving, and NADCAP-certified plating.
Vendor Relations:
Secure competitive quotes for raw materials and outsourced components to ensure bid competitiveness.
Collaboration:
Work with the Design and Shop Floor teams to ensure manufacturability and alignment with shop capacity.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of quote assumptions and participate in "kick-off" meetings for won projects.
Required Qualifications Experience:
3-5+ years in aerospace tooling, jig/fixture estimating, or precision machining.
Technical Skills:
Strong ability to read blueprints and a solid understanding of GD&T .
Software:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to view/measure files in CATIA is a plus.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with aerospace standards (AS9100) and material properties.
Compliance:
Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). Preferred Skills Experience with large-scale tooling or Invar weldments. Background in hands-on machining or tool making. Strong communication skills for direct interaction with customer purchasing and engineering departments.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
