Job Summary:
The Junior Electrical Estimator is an entry point into one of the most critical functions in our business that shapes the projects we win and the future we build. This role is ideal for someone coming from the field who wants to grow into estimating, develop business acumen, and learn how projects are won. The Junior Electrical Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing project-specific construction estimates based on plans and specifications. This role is designed for individuals currently in their apprenticeship or have a Journeyman's license who are looking to transition from the field into an office-based estimating role. The Junior Electrical Estimator will have a critical role in reviewing bid documents, interpreting drawings, and learning the full estimating process while developing technical and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimate Development:
Support preparation of electrical construction estimates for bids and proposals. Review and interpret basic drawings, blueprints, and specifications with guidance from senior estimators. Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with material counts. Support the preparation of scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations. Assist in requesting and tracking pricing for materials and subcontractors. Help update estimates and proposals as project changes occur. Assist with submitting and tracking Requests for Information (RFI's).
Program Development and Maintenance:
Support estimating team with maintaining estimating tools, databases, and software. Learn and utilize estimating software (e.g., Accubid) and Microsoft Excel. Maintain organized files and documentation for all assigned projects. Work in a structured environment to meet project deadlines. Willingness to learn, and work with cutting edge technology including AI enabled software.
Cost Evaluation:
Contribute to evaluating basic labor and material costs under supervision. Develop an understanding of cost drivers in electrical construction. Support the team in ensuring estimates align with project requirements.
Additional Duties:
Participate in training and development opportunities to grow estimating knowledge. Perform any other tasks assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled in electrical apprenticeship program or has Journeyman's license is preferred. Field experience in electrical construction strongly preferred. Exposure to reading blueprints and construction drawings preferred.
Skills:
Strong computer skills and comfort learning new technology and software. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Self-motivated with a desire to grow into an estimating role.
Knowledge:
Basic understanding of electrical systems and construction practices. Familiarity with blueprints, drawings, and electrical layouts. Pay:
$40,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
