Job Summary:
The role of the Estimator is to Quantity Estimate materials for Cost Estimating purposes. This includes quantity plan reading, on-screen takeoffs, inputs into estimating software, performing estimates, training, scheduling, establishing goals and standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed Prepares Quantity Estimates from Architectural Drawings; Proficient Plan reading skills a must Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating price Resolves quantity discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Prepares project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, and other documentation to assure a steady stream of information to the Project Managers/Cost Estimators Maintains quality service by following organization standards Promotes the company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as they relate to clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public Maintains continuity among corporate, division and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) University degree or college diploma, Construction Degree a plus Effective oral/written communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Ability to analyze information by using documentation, reporting, and estimating skills Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Effective time management and logical decision-making ability Capacity to handle pressure Strong focus on quality and teamwork Ability to develop budgets and vendor relationships Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Measured Square estimating software is a plus.
Pay Range:
