This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and client expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review project specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope, schedule, and estimate requirements Solicit and evaluate subcontractor, vendor, and supplier quotations Prepare accurate cost estimates using On-Screen Takeoff and AccuBid software Develop detailed, professional project proposals Create project plans based on awarded estimates, including schedules, tasks, and resource requirements Collaborate with clients, attend project interviews, and respond to inquiries Visit job sites to monitor progress, maintain logs, troubleshoot issues, and evaluate work quality Identify and recommend cost-saving alternatives and value engineering opportunities Manage multiple projects and estimates concurrently while meeting deadlines
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and RFP documentation Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), construction types, and building occupancies Understanding of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, mechanical equipment, and low-voltage systems Experience with design-build and design-assist delivery methods Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AccuBid, On-Screen Takeoff, and AutoCAD Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to think strategically and develop efficient project approaches Ability to prepare conceptual and preliminary pricing Reliable, dependable, and consistent attendance Ability to work extended hours as needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of electrical estimating or related construction experience preferred Associate degree in electrical estimating/design, or bachelor's degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office-based with occasional site visits Ability to sit, stand and work on a computer for extended periods of time May occasionally life up to 50 lbs. and perform bending, stooping or kneeling Must be able to physically navigate a construction site Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential responsibilities of this position
