The Steel Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for: Structural steel packages Steel erection Miscellaneous steel (stairs, railings, embeds, ladders, etc.) Connections, detailing coordination, and erection scopes This position plays a key role in bid strategy, subcontractor coordination, and overall project planning. Responsibilities Review drawings, specs, and addenda for commercial and industrial projects Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for structural and miscellaneous steel Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing Prepare complete bid proposals and scope clarifications Identify scope gaps, risk items, and value engineering opportunities Coordinate with project managers and operations staff during hand-off Track bid results and maintain historical cost data Qualifications 3+ years estimating experience in structural and/or miscellaneous steel Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection practices Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications Experience with pre-engineered metal building systems preferred Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
