Position Overview:

 An Estimator III analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
• Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, scheduling vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
• Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hours and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepares accurate estimates and reports, and maintains a source of data files.
• Gathers cost and technical quotations from vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Ensures the supplier's scope of supply coincides with contract or project requirements.
• Maintains job estimate history files.
• Updates history files as required for use in preparing future project estimates.
• Prepares letters, memos, faxes, and/or e-mails to suppliers to seek requests for information.
• Works overtime as required to complete estimates in a timely fashion.
• Prepares material and labor cost estimates from information provided or historical experience.
• Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and other sources.

Qualifications:

• Seven (7) to ten (10) years of directly applicable estimating experience in a marine or offshore environment.
• Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Accurately able to read and interpret provided drawings, specifications, or other proposal or technical documents.
• Contacts and gathers technical and cost information from vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and other sources.
• Computer literate, with good spreadsheet and word processing skills.
• Can work under schedule pressure and meet deadlines.
