The Project Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for grading, excavation, utility, and site development projects. This position plays a key role in helping secure new work by analyzing project plans, specifications, materials, labor, and equipment costs. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines while working closely with project managers, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors. Duties Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents Prepare detailed cost estimates for grading and sitework projects Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, stone, asphalt, and related materials Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during the bidding process Track bid schedules and ensure timely proposal submissions Assist with budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering opportunities Maintain organized project files and estimating records Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits as needed Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology. Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing with vendors and subcontractors. Solid knowledge of construction site operations and construction management principles. Familiarity with contracts, project management practices, and cost control strategies. Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail for accurate quantity take-offs and cost assessments. Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and present estimates clearly.
