Job Description

Senior Mechanical/Plumbing Project Manager Charlotte, NC GEMCO Constructors is a national mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems, and service contractor headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. We deliver large-scale commercial and industrial projects across the United States with a strong focus on safety, execution, and long-term customer relationships. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical/Plumbing Project Manager to lead complex commercial and industrial projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is a high-impact operational leadership role for someone who understands how to drive projects, manage financial performance, lead teams, and keep customers confident throughout the life of a project. The right candidate has real-world experience working directly for a mechanical or plumbing contractor managing large commercial or industrial work. This is not a residential or multifamily position. What You'll Do Lead multiple mechanical and plumbing construction projects from kickoff through final completion Manage project schedules, manpower planning, procurement, subcontractors, and field coordination Maintain full ownership of project financial performance including forecasting, labor tracking, billing, job costs, productivity, change orders, and margin management Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documents to ensure successful execution Work closely with superintendents, foremen, engineers, vendors, general contractors, and customers throughout all phases of construction Identify and resolve operational challenges before they impact schedule, budget, or quality Support estimating, preconstruction planning, turnover meetings, and project strategy discussions Conduct jobsite visits, project meetings, and customer reviews to maintain strong communication and accountability Mentor project teams and help develop operational consistency across the department Build long-term relationships with customers, vendors, and industry partners What Makes Someone Successful Here Strong operational leadership and project ownership mentality Ability to manage multiple moving pieces in fast-paced construction environments Confidence making decisions and solving problems in real time Strong understanding of labor productivity, forecasting, scheduling, and construction financials Ability to communicate effectively with both field and executive teams Organized, proactive, and accountable leadership style Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction Requirements 10+ years of mechanical or plumbing construction experience 5+ years of Project Management experience working directly for a mechanical or plumbing contractor Strong commercial and industrial project background required Experience managing project financials including forecasting, billing, labor tracking, change orders, and cost-to-complete analysis Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents Experience supporting estimating, takeoffs, and preconstruction efforts preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and construction management software Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Valid driver's license required Why
