Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lead Estimator to join our construction team and drive the success of our commercial projects. In this pivotal role, you will lead the estimating process from initial concept through final bid submission, ensuring accurate cost projections and competitive pricing. Your expertise will help us secure new business opportunities, manage project budgets effectively, and foster strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. Responsibilities Lead the development of comprehensive project estimates by reviewing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately determine material and labor requirements. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and construction management tools to prepare detailed cost proposals. Interpret construction drawings and technical documents to identify potential risks, scope of work, and cost-saving opportunities. Manage the estimation process for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely submission of competitive bids. Collaborate with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts that align with project goals. Conduct thorough review of construction contracts, scope changes, and change orders to maintain budget control. Oversee material cost estimating, quantity take-offs from blueprints, and estimation for construction site requirements. Monitor project budgets during execution to ensure cost control and effective resource allocation. Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Office tools to present estimates clearly and professionally. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new estimating techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency. Experience Proven experience as a construction estimator or in managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or similar tools. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans. Demonstrated ability in cost management, material cost estimating, and estimating construction project budgets. Excellent negotiation skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favorable terms. Familiarity with construction management software systems and Microsoft Office suite for documentation and reporting purposes. Hands-on construction site experience is highly desirable for understanding on-the-ground realities affecting estimates. Strong understanding of contracts, scope review processes, and change order management to ensure accurate pricing throughout project lifecycles.
