Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Underground Utility Estimator to join our team and lead the accurate assessment of underground utility projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive cost estimates, analyzing project plans, and collaborating with clients and contractors to ensure precise pricing and scope definition. Your expertise will drive project success from initial bidding through project execution, ensuring cost control and adherence to contractual obligations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale construction projects by leveraging your technical knowledge and estimating skills in a fast-paced environment. Duties Review detailed construction plans, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate underground utility estimates. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed bid proposals. Conduct on-site assessments and collaborate with construction management teams to gather real-time data on existing conditions. Prepare comprehensive cost analyses covering materials, labor, equipment, permits, and overhead costs. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Manage bid submissions, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Monitor project budgets during execution to support cost control efforts and identify potential overruns early. Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and clients to clarify scope changes or contractual adjustments. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, local regulations, and emerging technologies related to underground utilities. Qualifications Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on underground utility projects or heavy civil infrastructure. Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam; familiarity with project management tools is a plus. Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety protocols, and contract management. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms without compromising quality or safety. Knowledge of cost control strategies, pricing methodologies, and contract administration within the construction industry. Hands-on experience working on or managing construction sites is highly desirable. Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications accurately.
