Job Description

Join our team as a Senior Design Technician supporting electric distribution projects including highway relocations, grid improvements, and major utility infrastructure upgrades. In this role, you will help deliver accurate designs, support project coordination, and contribute to infrastructure improvements that strengthen grid reliability and serve local communities.
Key responsibilities include:
Support electric distribution projects involving highway relocations, grid modernization initiatives, overhead and underground utility relocations, and large-scale infrastructure upgrades. Assist in the production of engineering plans, reports, specifications, diagrams, and construction documents. Complete utility design tasks including drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation, permit package development, and construction cost estimating. Coordinate projects across multiple departments, contractors, municipalities, and utility clients to support timely and successful project completion. Utilize GIS and CAD software to review, validate, and update utility system information and design layouts. Support field activities including GPS survey, utility locating, inspections, and documentation of electric and gas distribution facilities. Identify discrepancies in source material or client records and communicate resolution needs to project teams. Participate in quality control reviews by documenting redlines and providing feedback to support accurate deliverables. Learn and apply company safety policies, client standards, and governing regulations in all daily work activities. May assist with oversight responsibilities including onboarding support, timekeeping approvals, and coordination of assigned resources.

Minimum Requirements:
2-4 years of utility industry design experience in electric distribution design Ability to manage multiple assignments and work with moderate supervision in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and organizational skills with a customer-focused mindset. Ability to perform occasional field work and travel to project or client sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting highway relocation projects, grid improvement initiatives, or utility infrastructure upgrades. Experience using software's Proficiency with softwares such as BOUD or Maximo Familiarity with utility engineering standards, permitting, and quality control processes.
