Civil Estimator Civil Construction & Telecommunications Drilling Operations Lexington, North Carolina Build Winning Projects From the Ground Up Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Civil Estimator to lead estimating, proposal development, and business development efforts for civil construction and tele-communications drilling projects throughout the region. This is a high-impact role for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands civil construction operations, and enjoys building strong client relationships while winning profitable work. You will own the estimating process from initial inquiry through contract award and work closely with company leadership and operations teams to ensure successful project execution. Projects typically range from $50K to $2M+ and include telecommunications infrastructure, foundation drilling, concrete work, site development, and utility installation. This role reports directly to company ownership and offers strong earning potential, leadership visibility, and long-term growth opportunities. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Proposal Development Lead estimating efforts for civil construction and cell tower drilling projects Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and field assessments Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead Prepare professional proposals, scopes of work, bid packages, and pricing submissions Analyze project risks including soil conditions, access limitations, logistics, and schedule constraints Review subcontractor quotes and integrate pricing into final bid strategies Negotiate scope, pricing, and contract terms with clients and partners Maintain estimating databases, production rates, and historical cost records Business Development & Client Relations Identify and pursue new business opportunities in tele-communications and civil construction markets Build relationships with telecom carriers, tower companies, general contractors, and direct clients Respond to RFPs, bid invitations, and quote requests Attend pre-bid meetings, networking events, and client meetings Manage and track opportunities through the sales pipeline and CRM system Serve as the primary point of contact for preconstruction and estimating inquiries Develop long-term strategic partnerships and repeat client relationships Site Assessment & Preconstruction Planning Conduct job site visits to evaluate conditions, logistics, utilities, and environmental constraints Coordinate with engineers, architects, and client representatives during preconstruction Assist in developing preliminary work plans and schedules Partner with the Project Superintendent to ensure a seamless transition from bid to build Continuous Improvement & Market Intelligence Monitor market trends, pricing strategies, and competitor activity Track actual vs. estimated project costs to improve estimating accuracy Analyze win/loss ratios and refine bidding strategies Identify emerging opportunities within telecommunications infrastructure and civil construction sectors Qualifications Required 7+ years of construction estimating experience in civil, sitework, or heavy construction Proven success pricing and winning work in competitive bid environments Strong understanding of civil construction means, methods, and materials Experience estimating foundation drilling, concrete work, earthwork, utility installation Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as HeavyBid, HCSS, or similar platforms Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, geotechnical reports, and specifications Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills Self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking abilities Valid driver's license Preferred Telecommunications infrastructure experience including cell towers, fiber deployment, or small cell installations Existing relationships with telecom carriers, tower companies, or regional contractors Experience with prevailing wage and public works bidding Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field Professional certifications such as CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) CRM experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar systems Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $75,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and industry relationships Performance incentives tied to: contracts awarded, gross profit margins, win rates, pipeline growth Alternative compensation model available with commission structure Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Company vehicle or vehicle allowance PTO and paid holidays Professional development and continuing education opportunities Industry memberships and networking support Work Environment Office-based work with remote/hybrid flexibility Regular field visits to project sites and client locations Travel within the service area for meetings and site assessments Occasional evening or weekend work for proposal deadlines Candidates must reside in the Greater Lexington, NC area Apply Today On behalf of our client, Prime Management Group Inc. is accepting applications for this opportunity.
