Job Description

Job Category URA-AFT Administrative Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Planner Estimator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Planning and working in conjunction with the Area Manager, initiates, plans, estimates and coordinates work orders for the repair, maintenance, changes and additions to the physical facilities. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Maintains liaison with department facilities coordinators, discussing individual problems and requests with heads of University departments in a designated zone. Acts in the absence of the Area Manager. Provides building lists and identifies DFM and Maintenance needs.

Position Pension Eligibility:
ABP Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of managerial experience in industrial or institutional project work and/or maintenance field. Certifications/Licenses A valid driver's license. This position requires travel to job sites using a university vehicle and will require the successful completion of the university Defensive Driving course. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must demonstrate the ability to read construction drawings, write specifications, and develop project costs. Knowledge of basic mathematical principles, conversion tables, and ability to locate and interpret technical information. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience planning and managing projects is preferred. Microsoft Project and Gantt charts experience is preferred. CAD experience is preferred
