Position Overview :
The Estimator I will prepare accurate and timely estimates for standard wide-format and small-format printing projects . This position reviews customer requirements, calculates materials and production costs, prepares quotes, and ensures estimates accurately reflect production requirements and company pricing standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare estimates for standard wide-format and small-format printing projects.
Review specifications including:
Quantity Dimensions Materials/substrates Finishing requirements Delivery/shipping requirements Calculate material, labor, finishing, and shipping costs . Apply established pricing, costing, and estimating guidelines. Enter and maintain estimates in the ERP/estimating system . Identify missing or conflicting information and obtain clarification before quoting. Confirm projects can be produced using standard processes and available equipment. Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, Prepress, Production, and Purchasing . Ensure estimates contain accurate job specifications for production handoff. Maintain appropriate profit margins and follow pricing guidelines. Meet established turnaround times for estimates. Review estimate-versus-actual results and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills :
1-3 years of experience in printing, estimating, customer service, production, or a related manufacturing environment. Basic understanding of wide-format and/or small-format digital printing . Familiarity with common print materials, substrates, and finishing processes . Strong mathematical and basic costing skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to interpret customer specifications and production requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard computer applications. Ability to learn and effectively use an ERP/estimating system . Strong organizational and time-management skills. Clear written and verbal communication. Ability to manage multiple estimating requests while maintaining accuracy. Willingness to learn advanced estimating and production processes.
