Job Description
Assembly EstimatorJob Summary The Assembly Estimator is the numbers-driven engine behind Assembly's operational performance and cost strategy — running time studies, balancing and improving lines, building defensible project pricing models, and driving innovation across Assembly projects. This role combines operational excellence with strategic cost estimation, translating line analysis, labor standards, and process innovation gains into actionable per- unit and per-project pricing. This is an experienced, individual-contributor role: it does not carry direct reports, but it does require someone who has already done this work and can be trusted to run it independently from day one. Key Responsibilities 1. Conduct time studies and process analysis across assembly lines to establish, validate, and refine standard times. 2. Identify and lead line balancing and efficiency improvement initiatives across Assembly projects. 3. Build and maintain reporting tools/dashboards to track productivity, efficiency, and project performance. 4. Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, trends, and improvement opportunities before they become problems. 5. Partner with Assembly leadership to design and implement process improvements and new line layouts. 6. Support innovation initiatives — testing new tools, methods, layouts, or automation to improve throughput and quality. 7. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) grounded in time study findings. 8. Determine cost per project by combining line study outputs, labor standards, allocated overhead, and process innovation gains into defensible per-unit and per- project pricing models. 9. Evaluate project costs and recommend optimal project approaches based on line analysis, innovation opportunities, and overhead allocation. 10. Reconcile quoted cost against actual production performance and adjust standards and pricing models based on variance. 11. Present findings and recommendations to leadership with clear, data-backed business cases. 12. Support Assembly Supervisors and Leads in rolling out new processes and standards. 13. Track project ROI and continuous improvement KPIs over time. Requirements & Qualifications 1. 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial engineering, process engineering, or continuous improvement, ideally in assembly, manufacturing, or 3PL operations — this is an experienced-level role, not an entry point into the field. 2. Demonstrated track record running time studies, line balancing, and standard work development independently. 3. Advanced proficiency in Excel/reporting tools; experience with WMS and AI-assisted reporting tools a plus. 4. Strong analytical and quantitative skills — comfortable working with data daily and drawing conclusions from it. 5. Experience with process improvement / Lean / Six Sigma methods; certification a plus, not required. 6. Experience developing or working with project costing models and cost analysis. 7. Strong communication skills — able to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership. 8. Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience. 9. Full flexibility with schedule as project needs require. 10.
