Job Description

As a Junior Construction Estimator, you will work directly alongside our Chief Estimators to learn the ins and outs of project pricing, bid management, and pre-construction planning. You will assist in performing material take-offs, reviewing project plans, soliciting subcontractor bids, and preparing comprehensive cost estimates for diverse construction projects.
Key Responsibilities Quantity Take-offs:
Perform accurate digital material and labor take-offs using estimating software.
Plan & Spec Review:
Review blueprints, architectural drawings, and project specifications to understand the scope of work.
Subcontractor Coordination:
Distribute bid packages to subcontractors and vendors, follow up on quotes, and assist in evaluating bids for completeness.
Database Management:
Maintain and update our cost database, vendor registries, and subcontractor lists.
Bid Preparation:
Assist in compiling final estimate reports, bid proposals, and standard pro forma documents for submission.
Site Visits:
Occasionally attend pre-bid site walks with senior staff to document existing field conditions.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (equivalent hands-on field experience will also be considered).
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in construction estimating, drafting, or general contracting support (internship experience counts!).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office (especially advanced Excel). Familiarity with digital take-off and estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or ProCore) is highly preferred.
Core Abilities:
Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with subcontractors and clients.
