Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Job Description Job Description HB Construction is seeking a high-impact Chief Estimator to lead and elevate our preconstruction function. This role is central to shaping our project portfolio, driving disciplined pursuit strategy, and delivering the market intelligence and cost leadership that positions us to win the right work. You will operate as a strategic partner to executive leadership and play a defining role in the company's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities Lead the estimating and preconstruction function across all pursuits and project types Set strategy for pricing, risk management, and go /no-go decisions Oversee conceptual through GMP estimating, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives Drive value engineering and cost planning in collaboration with clients and design teams Build and maintain strong subcontractor and market relationships to ensure competitive coverage Partner with operations and business development to secure profitable, well aligned work Establish best-in-class processes, tools, and data-driven insights Qualifications 12 plus years of experience in commercial construction estimating or preconstruction leadership Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver complex projects Deep expertise in CM at risk, negotiated work, and design-build delivery Strong business acumen with the ability to influence strategy and outcomes Executive-level communication skills and client presence Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
