Job Description
Estimator - Commercial Fencing and Gates Scott's Fencing Co. Inc - 4.4 Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time $70,000 - $90,000 a year 20 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description Commercial Fencing Estimator Scott's Fencing Co., Inc. is seeking a Commercial Fencing Estimator to join our Albuquerque team. This position is responsible for developing accurate project estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, and helping move awarded projects from the estimating stage through completion. The ideal candidate understands construction estimating, pays close attention to detail, and can take ownership of multiple projects at once. You will work with customers, vendors, and our field and production teams to make sure projects are properly priced, clearly communicated, and successfully executed. Is This You? You take ownership of your work. You catch the details other people miss on a set of plans before they turn into a change order nobody wants to eat. You finish takeoffs and bids without someone checking in three times to see if they're done. You ask the customer the right question before the job gets priced wrong, not after it's already lost money in the field. You take pride in building an accurate estimate, winning the job, and handing it off clean so the field team isn't chasing you down for missing scope. You communicate directly with customers, vendors, and your own team, including the conversations that aren't easy, like a scope change or a number that doesn't work. You want feedback because you want to get better at the trade, not because someone's making you. You're organized, competitive, and "close enough" isn't how you estimate a job. If you want a job where someone walks you through every step, this isn't it. If you want ownership of your estimates and a real seat in how projects get built, let's talk. What You'll Do Review construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and project documents Complete material and labor takeoffs and identify the requirements of each project Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids using Excel-based pricing tools Review project costs and pricing to help maintain appropriate margins Communicate with customers to clarify project requirements and develop an appropriate scope of work Coordinate with field and production leadership once a project is awarded Help establish project schedules and monitor progress through completion Prepare project information and turnover materials for the field team Review changes in scope and assist with change order pricing and documentation Track project costs, invoicing, and outstanding payments through final closeout Maintain organized records of estimates, takeoffs, pricing, and completed projects Manage multiple estimates and active projects while maintaining accurate follow-through What We're Looking For Previous experience in construction estimating or a closely related field Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications Experience performing material takeoffs Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based estimating Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional communication skills and confidence working directly with customers Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple active projects Strong follow-through and willingness to take ownership of assigned work Ability to identify potential problems and address them before they become larger project issues Valid driver's license Preferred Experience Commercial construction estimating Fencing, gates, site work, or another construction trade Construction project management Bluebeam, CAD, or other estimating/takeoff software Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, or field crews Compensation & Benefits $70,000 to $90,000 annual salary, depending on experience Health insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off Paid holidays About Scott's Fencing Co., Inc.
