Estimator - Construction Paving

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator specializing in Construction Paving to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, analyzing bid documents, and collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure competitive pricing and successful project execution. Duties Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and bid documents related to paving projects. Develop detailed cost estimates using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam, ensuring accuracy in material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather competitive pricing. Lead negotiations with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality standards. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that clearly outline scope of work, pricing strategies, and project timelines. Collaborate with project management teams to establish budgets, monitor cost control measures, and adjust estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle. Assist in contract review and support contract negotiations to align project scope with client expectations. Contribute to continuous improvement by analyzing past projects for lessons learned and refining estimating processes for future bids. Experience Proven experience in construction estimating within heavy civil or paving industries is essential. Strong knowledge of construction management principles, including cost control, scheduling, and project coordination. Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid; proficiency with Bluebeam for document markup and collaboration is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve win-win outcomes. Hands-on construction site experience providing insight into field operations and practical cost considerations. Understanding of construction contracts, scope development, and project management workflows. Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving will ensure success in this energetic role.
