  • Collaborative culture built on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement What Youll Do As a Senior Estimator / Preconstruction Lead, youll lead the estimating effort on some of the regions most complex environmental and infrastructure projects while helping advance Schultz Constructions preconstruction capabilities. Leadership & Pursuit Strategy
  • Lead preconstruction efforts from opportunity evaluation through bid submission.
  • Participate in go/no-go evaluations and project pursuit planning.
  • Develop bid strategies that balance competitiveness, profitability, operational execution, and risk management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Engineers and developing estimators.
  • Help improve estimating standards, processes, and best practices across the organization.
  • Support the continued growth and evolution of Schultz Constructions preconstruction function. Estimating & Risk Evaluation
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates for public and private infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, process requirements, schedules, utility conflicts, and contract documents to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Evaluate constructability, project sequencing, labor productivity, equipment utilization, temporary works, and resource requirements.
  • Develop budgets, cost models, and value-engineering recommendations when appropriate.
  • Identify scope gaps, ambiguities, and project risks before bid submission.
  • Assess procurement strategies and long-lead material considerations that may impact project delivery. Collaboration & Project Handoff
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership to validate assumptions and production strategies.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions.
  • Support proposal development and presentation efforts when required.
  • Ensure seamless transition from estimating to operations through organized and detailed project handoffs.
  • Track bid results, market conditions, and industry trends to continuously improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness. What Were Looking For Experience
  • 7+ years of estimating experience in environmental, heavy civil, utility, industrial, or infrastructure construction.
  • Demonstrated success estimating complex water and wastewater, utility, structural concrete, environmental, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with projects involving treatment facilities, pump stations, underground utilities, process piping, excavation, structural concrete, and related infrastructure systems.
  • Strong understanding of the technical, operational, and risk considerations associated with complex public infrastructure construction. Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, production rates, equipment utilization, and project sequencing.
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and public procurement requirements.
  • Experience evaluating project risk and developing effective pursuit and bid strategies.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, construction management platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Leadership & Communication
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with operations teams, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
