Summary of Responsibilities for heavy civil construction chief estimator To assist the team with preparing accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must also be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons. Excellent coaching mentoring abilities wanted. Understand the civil project/program and its requirements Determine key variables for cost and other estimates, takeoffs. Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc. Use estimating software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting Obtain and review offers and quotes b y subcontractors or vendors Perform risk analysis Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.) with Senior Estimator Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.) Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.) Experience of Heavy Civil Construction Estimator Estimating experience within the civil construction world, preferably in the heavy civil market of 7-10 plus years in either paving, utility, or bridges or estimating similar types of heavy civil construction projects Must have HCSS or Bid2win or other heavy civil estimating software experience experience Experience bidding on Road, Utility, smaller bridge projects Etc Leadership experiencing and providing guidance for those less experienced in heavy civil estimating.
