Structural Steel Estimator

Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, and technical documents to develop precise estimates for structural steel quantities and costs. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed bids that reflect current market conditions. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts that align with project budgets. Conduct site visits to gather on-site measurements, assess construction site conditions, and verify scope of work. Prepare comprehensive cost analysis reports including material costs, labor estimates, equipment needs, and contingency allowances. Monitor project budgets during execution to ensure cost control and identify potential overruns early. Assist in contract negotiations and review contractual obligations related to scope of work, schedules, and payment terms. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on structural steel projects or heavy industrial construction. Proficiency in estimating tools such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam is essential. Strong understanding of construction management processes, contracts, and project scheduling. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards. Hands-on construction site experience providing insight into field conditions impacting estimates. Knowledge of cost control practices, pricing strategies, and risk assessment in construction projects. Effective communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
