Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in residential construction, restoration, and insurance claims, with the ability to accurately assess damage, scope necessary repairs, prepare detailed estimates, and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely with clients, project managers, insurance adjusters, and suppliers to ensure projects are properly scoped, accurately priced, and successfully executed. The successful candidate will bring strong construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and efficiency. Responsibilities Inspect residential properties and assess damage resulting from water, fire, mold, smoke, and storm events. Prepare detailed reconstruction estimates using Xactimate and Cotality Estimate/Symbility. Develop accurate scopes of work for kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, drywall, painting, roofing, framing, cabinetry, and other residential reconstruction projects. Collaborate with homeowners, insurance adjusters, property managers, and subcontractors throughout each project. Review insurance estimates to identify discrepancies, required supplements, and additional necessary work. Prepare and submit supplements when additional damage or repairs are identified. Obtain material and subcontractor pricing to ensure accurate project costs. Communicate project scope, pricing, and expectations clearly with customers. Coordinate with project managers, production staff, subcontractors, and vendors. Conduct job site inspections and document existing conditions and completed work. Assist with change orders and related project documentation. Maintain accurate job files, estimates, photographs, and supporting documentation. Help ensure projects are completed on scope, on budget, and to quality standards. Qualifications Previous experience in restoration, reconstruction, residential construction, or insurance estimating. Experience with Xactimate and Cotality Estimate/Symbility preferred. Strong understanding of residential construction and building practices. Ability to read plans, interpret scopes of work, and accurately quantify materials and labor. Knowledge of insurance-related repair and restoration estimating preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Valid driver's license. Ability to travel throughout Long Island. Preferred Experience 3+ years of restoration or residential construction estimating experience. Xactimate certification or extensive Xactimate experience. Experience handling insurance restoration claims. Knowledge of water, fire, mold, and storm restoration. Experience with supplements and insurance scope-of-repair reconciliation. Construction or restoration industry certifications are a plus. What We Offer $75,000-$100,000, depending on experience. Full-time position with an established, growing, family-owned company.
