Seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for electrical construction projects.
Location:
White Plains, NY We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join an established electrical contracting and engineering team in White Plains, NY. This position will be responsible for estimating and preparing competitive bids for commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, high-rise, residential, and other complex electrical construction projects. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for electrical construction projects. Review drawings, specifications, addenda, bid documents, and project requirements. Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work. Develop complete project pricing and bid proposals. Obtain and evaluate pricing from electrical suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors. Analyze labor requirements, material costs, equipment, and other project expenses. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and potential estimating risks. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs. Work closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. Assist with value engineering and cost-saving alternatives. Review historical project costs and maintain accurate estimating databases. Support project teams with budgeting and cost-control information after project award. Monitor changes in material and labor pricing. Maintain organized estimating files and documentation. Ensure bids are accurate, complete, and submitted within required deadlines. Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in electrical construction estimating. Experience working for an electrical contractor or electrical construction company. Required experience estimating commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, high-rise, residential, or other large-scale/complex electrical construction projects. Strong experience with electrical quantity takeoffs and bid preparation. Ability to independently review electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, labor, and installation practices. Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and other electrical systems. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local requirements. Experience obtaining and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing. Proficiency with estimating software and tools such as Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar platforms. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet strict bid deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience estimating healthcare, high-rise, commercial, industrial, institutional, or complex building projects. Experience with union electrical construction. Experience with negotiated, hard-bid, design-build, or other project delivery methods. Familiarity with New York City/Westchester electrical construction requirements. Experience working with general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. Electrical engineering education, technical training, or equivalent practical experience.
