Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Estimator to join our construction team, specializing in commercial projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, managing project budgets, and supporting the overall bidding process. This role is vital in ensuring project profitability and delivering quality results on time and within scope. The successful applicant will bring extensive construction industry experience, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to cost management and client communication. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to interpret project scope and material requirements accurately. Prepare detailed cost estimates using estimating software such as HeavyBid, Agtek, or similar tools. Develop comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Conduct material cost estimating and pricing strategies to ensure competitive bids while maintaining profitability. Manage multiple estimation projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met with precision. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors through negotiation to secure favorable terms and pricing. Utilize construction management software to track estimates, update bid documents, and manage project data efficiently. Review contracts and construction documents to identify potential risks or scope changes that could impact costs. Assist in managing project costs through effective cost control measures and ongoing budget monitoring. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to accurately estimate quantities and material requirements. Communicate effectively with clients regarding bid proposals, project scope clarifications, and negotiations. Support the transition from estimating to project management by providing detailed documentation for project execution. Requirements Proven experience as a Civil Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry, particularly in commercial projects. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or equivalent tools. Extensive knowledge of construction management software platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and blueprints accurately. Experience with cost management, material cost estimating, and budgeting for large-scale projects. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with the ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members. Solid understanding of contracts, project management principles, and construction site operations. Background in construction site experience or hands-on involvement in construction projects is highly desirable. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
