Job Description

The Ruhlin Company seeks to hire a Estimator-Highway Lighting & Signalization out of our Sharon center office.
Summary:
Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for one or more work types.
Responsibilities:
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers. Maintain database with current contact information for subcontractors and vendors. Update external company website with current bid information. Request quotes; organize, review, and log quotes received. Support other department personnel as required. Visit project sites to observe construction methods. Update skills for software tools and technology utilization. Perform post-bid analysis; i.e. bid tabulations. Assist with cost control system set-up. Participate in bid review meetings with owner or owner's representatives as needed. Participate in project hand-off meetings. Assist with making phone calls or making copies of documents, proposals. Deliver major bids; pick up drawings and other miscellaneous bid-related errands. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 3+ years of Highway Lighting & Signalization estimating experience. Advanced math and computer skills. Ability to conceptualize a project schedule from start through completion including sequence/phasing of work. Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control. Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and HCSS Heavy Bid is a plus; ability to learn additional software programs. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good time management and organization skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Team-focused mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships. Commitment to Company values. Direct Report(s): Intern
