A typical day may include performing quantity takeoffs, evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations, participating in pre-bid meetings, conducting jobsite visits, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, procurement professionals, and operations leaders to validate scope and pricing assumptions. You will assess project risks, identify potential cost impacts, analyze market conditions, and prepare competitive bid proposals that support successful project awards. Your work directly influences project planning, contract negotiations, budgeting, and business development efforts while helping ensure the company remains competitive in the industrial construction marketplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two to five years of estimating experience in the mechanical construction industry. Experience preparing estimates across multiple design phases, construction phases, or contract delivery methods. Experience working with vendor pricing, supplier quotations, and subcontractor input. Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, construction drawings, and technical documents. Working knowledge of construction estimating databases and estimating tools. Knowledge of accounting principles related to cost estimating. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills. Ability to develop accurate cost estimates and apply estimating strategies that support project and business objectives.
