Job Description
Heavy Civil Estimator Prineville, Oregon | Full-Time | In-Person Centerline Drilling Inc. is a Central Oregon-based contractor specializing in drilling, substations, renewable energy, heavy civil construction, and horizontal boring. Our crews support critical power, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Our work ranges from drilled foundations and complete substation civil packages to utility-scale solar and BESS projects, mass grading, underground utilities, access roads, and horizontal directional drilling. With experienced field crews, specialized equipment, and strong project support, we have the capabilities to take on complex projects from the ground down. Build the Work Before It Hits the Dirt Centerline Drilling Inc. is looking for a Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team in Prineville, Oregon. This position will primarily focus on estimating heavy civil and underground construction projects, with the opportunity to stay involved after award by supporting project management as needed. We are looking for an experienced estimator who can take a project from plans and specifications through a complete, competitive estimate. The right person will be comfortable working through the details, coordinating with our team, and developing estimates that reflect how the project will actually be performed in the field. What You'll Do Perform digital takeoffs for earthwork, structural concrete, underground utilities, and other heavy civil scopes. Prepare and finalize competitive bids for municipal, private, civil, and utility infrastructure projects. Build detailed labor, crew, equipment, and production models using HCSS HeavyBid. Review engineering drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other bid documents for scope, constructability, and potential issues. Evaluate construction methods and materials to identify opportunities to improve project cost and execution. Conduct pre-bid site visits to evaluate access, haul routes, staging, existing utilities, and other site conditions. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, field leadership, and internal teams to develop complete estimates. Track actual field production against estimated production to improve the accuracy of future bids. Complete, review, and submit estimates in accordance with bid requirements. Maintain organized estimating files and supporting documentation. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams. Project Management Support While estimating will be the primary focus of this position, this role will also work alongside our project management team after projects are awarded.
This may include:
Assisting with project plans, schedules, and milestones based on the original bid and proposal. Supporting project cost tracking and coordination with the finance team. Assisting with contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, and invoice review. Supporting change orders, submittals, and RFIs. Helping maintain continuity between estimating, project management, and field operations. What We're Looking For Heavy civil, underground utility, earthwork, or related construction experience. Estimating experience and knowledge of construction means and methods. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other construction documents. Strong understanding of labor, equipment, materials, and production rates. Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, preferred Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with project management, field leadership, finance, vendors, subcontractors, and clients. A positive, professional approach and willingness to take responsibility for assigned bids and projects.Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$100,000-$160,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.
