The Senior Estimator directs and coordinates the estimating process for Sharp new business opportunities, major product changes and other operations projects. This also includes the coordination of project/product requirements among internal company functional areas and communication of project status to Sales and Senior Management. Act as the role of liaison among Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Operations and Operational Finance concerning cost estimating and quote generation for new business opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is a list of minimum responsibilities related to the Estimator position. Other duties may also be assigned. Maintain overall responsibility for the Sharp New Business Estimating Business practice. Processes and owns estimate requests generated by Sharp Sales and Marketing. Inputs and updates estimate request information using the Estimating software. Consults with Sharp Purchasing, Design, Project Managers and suppliers to develop/obtain specifications and costs related to equipment, purchased materials and components for new products and projects. Develops estimates consisting of material components, machine rates, investments and labor rates, for new business opportunities at Sharp. Create out-of-the-box technical concepts for complex packaging processes and coordinate with Production Management to determine the most effective method of production/packaging to be used for individual new business opportunities. Coordinate with Engineering and other technical resources within Sharp (e.g. Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, etc.) to determine tooling, equipment, and quality requirements for new business opportunities that may impact the cost of the products. Assist in resolving project issues as they arise and provide alternative solutions to problems throughout the estimate life cycle (including revisions as required). Assume role as operational contact for all estimates for Account Executive, Senior Management, Functional Management and Project Management. Perform a technical risk assessment on all new business opportunities. Participation in the initial pre-screening and classification of new business opportunities that are presented for estimating by the Sales and Marketing group. Contribute in on-site, off-site or external bid defence meetings to enable Sales to acquire new business opportunities. Design and draft opportunity specific technical packages in support of Sales to convince customers on the capabilities within Sharp and show it's capabilities and expertise in the form of (e.g.) quotations, slide decks. Needs strong organizational skills, and solid interpersonal skills as will be communicating with multiple areas of the organization concurrently. Evaluate and improve cost estimating methods and process. Perform effective hand-over to the Project team and ensure consistent transfer of approach and knowledge between Sales and Project.
PREFERRED / REQUIRED
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, or Business along with 5+ yrs of experience, with preferred background in CDMO environment, Pharma, and or Pricing/Costing.
