Position Overview The Estimator plays a critical role in our manufacturing operations, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, products, and services. This salary position reports to the Estimating Manager and collaborates closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids that align with company goals. The ideal candidate brings deep industry knowledge, analytical acumen, and a proven track record in complex manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities

Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to assess manufacturing processes and identify cost efficiencies or risks.

Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company standards.

Prepare detailed bid proposals and present findings to management and clients as needed.

Monitor and update estimates based on project changes, market trends, and historical data.

Provide quality assurance on all estimates.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry materials, processes, and best practices relevant to manufacturing estimation.

Participate in post-bid reviews and project handoffs to ensure continuity between estimation and execution phases.

Follow up on quotes to see what is needed to obtain the purchase order.

Develop and maintain customer lists and create key customer profiles to better serve the customers' needs and expand our ability to sell products and services.

Use current tools and resources to create quotations.

Develop, in collaboration with your manager, additional tools as needed to make the estimating organization more effective and efficient.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or operating within a manufacturing environment, with a proven record of successful project execution or bids.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers.

Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.

Proficiency with estimation software, spreadsheets, and ERP systems.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present to stakeholders.

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy under tight deadlines.

Working Conditions

Office-based role with occasional visits to manufacturing sites or vendor facilities.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm ET, with occasional overtime required to meet bid deadlines.
