Your Impact:
Relationship Building:
Your professionalism, honesty, and commitment to building strong relationships will be essential as you work closely with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners. You'll provide constructability and cost data with a comprehensive, holistic understanding of each project's unique needs.
Project Analysis:
You'll dive deep into project specifications and drawings, attending pre-bid meetings to thoroughly understand the scope of work. Your attention to detail ensures that every estimate is grounded in fact.
Estimate Preparation:
With a focus on precision, you'll prepare detailed estimates, carefully identifying labor, material, and time requirements from project proposals, plans, and specifications. Your skill in breaking down complex information will be crucial to accurate estimates.
Takeoff:
Conduct thorough takeoffs across all trades, ensuring you have a complete grasp of the project's scope, guaranteeing nothing is missed.
Market Insight:
You'll leverage your industry insight to gather bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring we get the best materials at the right value. Your careful evaluation of bids will help drive informed decisions, resolving cost discrepancies with a sharp, analytical eye.
Cost Management:
You'll balance creative project vision with financial reality, offering value engineering solutions to keep projects within budget, all while maintaining the highest standards.
Scope & Collaboration:
Collaborate with subcontractors and fellow estimators to review and refine proposals, ensuring comprehensive and accurate scopes of work. Your teamwork will be key in eliminating scope gaps and driving project success.
Negotiation:
You'll use your strong negotiation skills to purchase subcontracts, making informed recommendations that are backed by a complete understanding of the scope of work.
Presentation & Contract Oversight:
You will confidently assemble and present detailed estimates, ensuring both numerical accuracy and clear descriptive information. Post-award, you'll continue to oversee contracts, managing extra work items, change orders, and procurement needs.
Documentation & Accountability:
You'll maintain organized and accurate files of working documents to support your estimates, ensuring accountability and precision at every stage.
Generate Interest & Build Value:
Your role will help create excitement about the project within the industry, securing preferred pricing and positioning Benchmark as a leader in the field.
Teamwork & Leadership:
As an essential member of the estimating team, you'll collaborate closely with other estimators to ensure every project benefits from shared expertise and collective leadership. What You Bring (Experiences & Qualifications): Above all, you are hungry, humble, and people-smart.
Education & Expertise:
A bachelor's degree in construction management or a related engineering discipline is preferred, but equivalent experience in the field is highly valued. Your 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience on healthcare projects will set you up for success.
Industry Knowledge:
You bring solid experience with construction technologies, equipment, and methods, along with a deep understanding of design and budget management. Familiarity with software tools like SmartBid, Procore, Destini, and Bluebeam is a plus.
Analytical Skills:
Your strong math skills, including algebra and geometry, are critical as you analyze and solve complex problems. You have a proven ability to navigate specifications, plans, and detailed project information.
Leadership & Communication:
You are an effective communicator, able to collaborate with both internal teams and external partners. You take pride in presenting proposals and projects with confidence, always maintaining clear, professional interactions.

You excel at managing multiple assignments at once, maintaining a close attention to detail while delivering high-quality work. You understand the importance of deadlines and are committed to getting the job done right.
