Job Description
Estimator - Laser Cutting We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for metal fabrication parts and assemblies in response to customer requests for quotation (RFQs). This position plays an important role in supporting our sales and financial objectives by developing competitive, accurate estimates and coordinating awarded projects through completion. The Estimator will work closely with customers, vendors, production, and other internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to or above customer expectations . Essential Duties & Responsibilities Analyze blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates for equipment time, materials, labor, and overall project costs. Prepare timely and accurate quotes in response to customer RFQs. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of equipment, materials, and manufacturing processes. Track actual project costs against estimates and bids to help improve future estimating accuracy. Consult with customers, vendors, and internal departments to develop estimates, clarify requirements, and resolve issues. Work with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Prepare estimates and cost information to assist in the selection of vendors and subcontractors. Review material and labor requirements and determine whether components should be manufactured internally or purchased from outside suppliers. Follow awarded jobs from the estimating stage through invoicing to help ensure projects are completed and shipped on schedule. Develop and maintain a current directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Maintain accurate and up-to-date estimating and production documentation, including quote logs, job schedules, and job traveler forms. Communicate with customers regarding material availability and coordinate pickup or delivery. Arrange customer deliveries through internal transportation resources as needed. Prepare and/or coordinate required shipping documentation, including packing slips and bills of lading. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment . Strong communication skills are important, as this position regularly interacts with customers, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and internal teams. Preferred Qualifications Previous estimating experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, welding, machining, or a related industry . Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. Strong understanding of labor, material, equipment, and production costs. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize multiple RFQs and projects while meeting deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating/accounting software. Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, production teams, and other departments. Why Join Us?
