full-time Stevens Engineers & Constructors has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Industrial Piping Estimator to join our Pittsburgh Operations Team. The ideal candidate will have estimating and project management experience in industrial construction markets. The Industrial Piping Estimator position is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with process and industrial piping projects. This position requires a strong understanding of piping installation and fabrication processes, industry standards, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to deliver comprehensive and competitive project estimates. The Piping Estimator works collaboratively with other estimators, project managers, engineers, and vendors to solicit and analyze subcontractor proposals, ensuring that all project expectations are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs estimating activities to ensure the accurate preparation and submission of competitive and profitable proposals, within prudent corporate parameters. In conjunction with the Lead Estimator, formulate bidding strategies for all major projects. Read, interpret, and understand mechanical drawings/prints and specifications. Thoroughly reviews estimates, scope, pricing and assembly of proposals prior to submission. Consults with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues. May perform estimates individually or as part of an estimating team. Maintains current subcontractor and vendor source information for support unit use. Monitors all contract purchasing by estimating to assure placement of orders within planned buying goals, with qualified subcontractors. Cooperates with Business Development personnel in affecting proper goals and strategies. Actively pursues and participates in the development of new clients. Electronically maintain records of all working documents and data to back up estimates. Promote a safe and injury-free work environment. Required Skills Advanced project estimator skills that include performing engineering calculations and being conversant in engineering nomenclature to effectively communicate with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Ability to offer constructability ideas to effectively reduce costs to customer associated with the project, and position Company in favorable standing on bid submissions. Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates Understanding of piping installation and fabrication processes, industry standards. Knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs Accurate and precise attention to detail. Ability to understand and communicate basic construction concepts. Advanced organizational and time management skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to work on multiple projects. Able to build solid working relationships with project team members, vendors, and customers. Ability to work effectively with all levels in an organization. Strong work ethic - results driven. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access, InEight and other construction/project management software packages.
