Full-time Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Fence Estimator with a strong background in commercial, municipal, or industrial projects. A proven track record in commercial estimating is required. This role requires the ability to analyze plans and specifications, develop accurate cost estimates, and manage multiple bids while maintaining a focus on profitability and competitiveness. The ideal candidate brings a structured estimating process, understands labor and material costing, and has experience working in deadline-driven environments. We are looking for someone who can operate independently, communicate effectively, and contribute to the continued growth of our commercial division. Travel throughout the state of Texas is a required function of this role and is not optional. The estimator must be available to visit job sites as needed to observe work, verify scope, and ensure project accuracy. A company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.

Duties:

Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop a complete understanding of scope of work Perform detailed material takeoffs and labor estimates for commercial fencing projects Prepare accurate, competitive, and profitable bids aligned with company targets Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential risks prior to bid submission Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing to ensure cost accuracy Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines Maintain organized bid files, takeoffs, and supporting documentation Track bid activity, including awarded and lost projects Communicate effectively with general contractors, vendors, and internal team Coordinate with operations to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to project execution Conduct site visits as needed to verify scope, observe progress, and ensure alignment between estimated and actual work Monitor field conditions and provide feedback to improve estimating accuracy Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes, systems, and cost tracking

Skills & Qualifications:

Strong understanding of commercial estimating, including material takeoffs, labor costing, and project scope analysis Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and bid documents Proficient in performing accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations Knowledge of commercial fencing systems, including chain link, ornamental, and gate/access control systems Ability to identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential project risks Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general estimating tools/software Effective communication skills for coordinating with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working both in an office setting and in the field as required Proven track record in commercial estimating, including the ability to discuss project size, bid volume, and estimating approach
