Job Description

This Opportunity is for a Construction Estimator
  • should be dynamic & detail-oriented to join our team and drive the success of our asphalt, cement & construction projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and efficient project execution. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality construction projects on time and within budget, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction every step of the way. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive construction cost estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and bid documents. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights, assess site conditions, and verify project requirements. Collaborate with key stakeholders to refine estimates and ensure alignment with project scope. Negotiate pricing with suppliers to secure the best value for the company. Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to maintain budget control and implement cost-saving measures as needed. Prepare detailed bid packages, including scope of work, schedules, and material takeoffs that accurately reflect project needs. Actively coordinate with project manager to identify & resolve potential issues that may arise. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating with a solid understanding of construction management processes. Proficiency in different estimating software is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, and project management principles. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors. Ability to read and interpret engineering & architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Experience in cost control, pricing strategies, and managing budgets for large-scale projects. Construction site experience is preferred to better understand field conditions impacting estimates. Ability to review & interpret construction documents, specifications, & technical drawings. Understanding of labor productivity concepts & cost build-up principles used in construction estimating. Working knowledge of standard estimating deliverables & documentation practices. Ability to interpret and use contractor/vendor cost inputs as reference information for estimating. Experience supporting cost estimates for public & private infrastructure or large capital projects. Exposure to alternative project delivery models and how they influence construction cost estimating Familiarity with construction practices common to civil infrastructure projects. Strong problem-identification & problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or a closely related field with advanced course work or training related to construction estimating, engineering economics or cost analysis. 3+ years of relevant post-education experience in estimating or related field. Proficiency in construction estimating fundamentals, including quantity-based estimating. Proficiency with estimating & reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel & estimating software (e.g. InEight, RSMeans, Bluebeam or similar). OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training.
