starting $80,000 Job Summary The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role analyzes project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine material, labor, and equipment costs. The Estimator works closely with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and the preconstruction team to support bidding and budgeting efforts. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Bluebeam, Gordian (RSMeans), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, and has a strong understanding of construction methods and cost controls. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other digital tools
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate estimates
  • Utilize Gordian (RSMeans) for cost data, benchmarking, and pricing validation
  • Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and design teams during preconstruction
  • Assist in preparing bid proposals, budgets, and scope summaries
  • Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing information
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
  • Support change order pricing and cost analysis during project execution
  • Track and manage bid deadlines and ensure timely submissions
  • Assist in post-bid reviews and project handoff to operations team Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating or a related role
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for takeoffs and document analysis
  • Experience using Gordian (RSMeans) or similar estimating databases
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Skills
  • Experience with commercial construction projects
  • Familiarity with additional estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors Physical & Work Requirements
  • Primarily office-based with occasional jobsite visits
  • Ability to review construction documents and attend project meetings as needed
