Temp-to-Hire Opportunity (based on performance and business needs) Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized professional recruiting firm, seeks an experienced Electrical Substation Cost Estimator for a hybrid/remote opportunity based in Raleigh, NC. This role supports utility and energy infrastructure projects throughout the United States, with occasional support for projects in Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction cost estimating within the energy sector, specifically electrical substations, and possess the ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, develop cost models, and support project planning initiatives. Key Responsibilities Review and accurately interpret engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents. Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for: Civil works Building construction High-and low-voltage electrical installations Mechanical installations Develop unit pricing using industry-standard labor, equipment, and material costs. Prepare detailed construction cost estimates from engineering drawings and technical specifications. Provide conceptual and budgetary estimates for electrical substation projects. Support project scheduling and planning efforts through estimating data and cost analysis. Evaluate subcontractor proposals, pricing submissions, and change order requests. Maintain and contribute to the internal construction cost database. Ensure compliance with applicable internal procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimating within the energy or utility sector, preferably focused on electrical substations. Proficiency with estimating software such as ProEst , Prost , or similar platforms. Educational background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Strong knowledge of industry labor rates, equipment pricing, and material cost standards. Experience reviewing subcontractor bids, proposals, and change orders. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
