We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator Apprentice to join our roofing company. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the estimating process in the roofing industry, working closely with experienced estimators and project managers. The Estimator Apprentice will assist in preparing cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and gaining practical experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for roofing projects, including materials, labor, and overhead for commercial and residential properties. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project drawings. Collaborate with project managers and estimators to gather necessary information for bids. Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather data for estimating. Research and source materials and subcontractor costs to ensure competitive pricing. Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation. Participate in team meetings to discuss project requirements and estimating strategies. Shadow experienced estimators to learn best practices and industry standards. Provide administrative support as needed, including data entry and filing.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; some college coursework in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus. Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Basic knowledge of construction and roofing processes is a plus but not required. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in the construction industry, particularly in roofing, is highly desirable. Sales experience in a related field is a plus, showcasing strong customer service and negotiation skills. Understanding of construction estimating software or tools is an advantage. Familiarity with local building codes and regulations pertaining to roofing projects.
