full-time About the Company Marshall Homes is a design-build firm based in Salt Lake County, specializing in high-end remodels and custom homes. We deliver exceptional quality, transparent processes, and an organized, collaborative experience for every client. About the Role We're looking for someone who enjoys numbers, organization, and building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. In this role, you'll own the pre-construction process from initial estimate through project buyout, ensuring every project is accurately estimated, competitively procured, and fully budgeted before a single subcontractor breaks ground. This is a core business function that directly impacts profitability and the client experience. You'll report directly to the owner and collaborate with Design, Project Managers, and Accounting. This is a remote role (work-from-home + local site visits). Candidates must live in the Salt Lake City area. What You'll Own Estimating

  • Complete quantity takeoffs from plans
  • Build and maintain project estimates
  • Request and compare subcontractor bids
  • Maintain pricing databases and historical costs
  • Identify value engineering opportunities Purchasing & Buyout
  • Solicit and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Ensure scopes are complete and negotiate when appropriate
  • Issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements
  • Track material lead times and delivery schedules Budgeting
  • Create job cost budgets using company cost codes
  • Track committed vs. estimated costs and report variances to ownership
  • Assist with gross margin forecasting across active and upcoming projects
  • Flag budget risks and cost exposures before construction begins Vendor Relationships
  • Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Expand Marshall Homes' preferred vendor network What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years in residential construction estimating, purchasing, project coordination, or a related field
  • Ability to read residential construction plans
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, excellent communicator
  • Comfortable working with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Familiar with Buildertrend, CoConstruct, JobTread, or similar software
  • Comfortable adopting new digital tools as the business evolves Bonus Points
  • AutoCAD LT experience
  • Experience managing cost databases or estimating libraries
