About the Role Roberts Environmental Control Corp. is looking for an experienced Mechanical / MEP Estimator who knows their way around HVAC, sheet metal, and piping drawings and can turn complex construction documents into accurate, competitive estimates. This role is built for someone who can perform detailed ductwork and piping takeoffs , review mechanical plans and specifications, understand equipment schedules, coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing, and help build complete bid packages from start to finish. The ideal candidate has mechanical estimating experience, strong construction drawing knowledge, and enough attention to detail to catch the things everyone else misses, because apparently buildings still do not estimate themselves. Tragic. What You'll Do Perform detailed digital takeoffs for ductwork, HVAC piping, hydronic piping, process piping, equipment, accessories, and related mechanical scopes Review mechanical, architectural, structural, and electrical drawings to identify scope, conflicts, and coordination requirements Read and interpret specifications, equipment schedules, details, addenda, alternates, and bid documents Build accurate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor cost estimates Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, hard bids, design-build estimates, and final proposals Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes Identify missing scope, design gaps, value-engineering opportunities, and bid risks Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope reviews, and turnover meetings Work with project managers, field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and customers to clarify project requirements Maintain organized estimate files, drawing logs, quote comparisons, and bid documentation Support bid strategy, proposal review, and final pricing decisions Help improve estimating standards, templates, production rates, and internal best practices What We're Looking For Experience estimating mechanical construction , especially HVAC, sheet metal, ductwork, and piping Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications Experience with digital takeoff software such as QuoteSoft, Trimble, Bluebeam, Planswift, Autobid, On-Screen Takeoff , or similar platforms Solid understanding of mechanical systems, including duct systems, piping systems, equipment, insulation, controls coordination, and related scopes Ability to work with equipment schedules, piping diagrams, risers, details, and project specifications Strong math skills and ability to use formulas, production rates, labor units, and estimating logic Ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams High attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple bids at once Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and PDF/drawing review tools AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM coordination experience is a plus The Right Person Will Be Accurate, organized, and deadline-driven Comfortable working in a fast-moving bid environment Curious enough to dig into unclear scope instead of guessing and praying, humanity's favorite estimating method Confident communicating with both office and field teams Able to balance competitiveness with risk awareness Interested in building long-term expertise in mechanical contracting Brand Expectations Every employee represents the Roberts brand and is expected to support our core values: Accountability — own the work, the details, and the outcome Collaboration — work with the team, vendors, customers, and field leadership Curiosity — keep learning, ask better questions, and improve the process Roberts employees also help strengthen the company's reputation through professionalism, responsiveness, and strong relationships across the construction industry.

$85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
