$110,000-$130,000 base salary + performance-based bonus opportunities The Opportunity A well-established and growing concrete contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to join its team in Southeast Michigan. This newly created position will add depth to the estimating and project management functions as project volume continues to grow. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong estimating capabilities with hands-on project management experience. The successful candidate will contribute across bidding, takeoffs, pricing, planning, and project execution for commercial, industrial, and spec-book work, including schools, flatwork, sitework, and general concrete packages. The position offers hybrid flexibility for experienced candidates , allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work when project responsibilities permit. Candidates should be based in or within reasonable commuting distance of Southeast Michigan, as periodic office and project-site presence will be required. Key Responsibilities Estimating Perform detailed takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment. Analyze drawings, specifications, blueprints, and other project documentation. Prepare proposals, bid packages, and cost summaries. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. Utilize On-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software. Support bidding across commercial, industrial, and spec-book projects. Review historical data and market pricing to improve estimating accuracy. Manage multiple bids, schedules, and deadlines simultaneously. Project Management Plan, schedule, and manage projects from kickoff through closeout. Coordinate project handoffs with field leadership and operations teams. Maintain project schedules, budgets, resource allocations, and documentation. Communicate proactively regarding project changes, delays, and progress. Coordinate with clients, leadership, superintendents, and field teams. Help resolve change orders, design modifications, material shortages, and other project issues. Support quality, safety, and timely project delivery. What We're Looking For Solid estimating experience within concrete construction or a closely related construction environment. Experience with takeoff software; On-Screen Takeoff is preferred . Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial construction and spec-book work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Comfortable working across construction, estimating, and project management software. Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and projects concurrently. Proactive communication and consistent follow-through. Positive, collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with both office and field teams.
Preferred:
5+ years of concrete estimating and project management experience, although candidates with a strong construction background and demonstrated ability to grow into the full scope of the position may also be considered.
