This role is responsible for producing accurate, competitive estimates that convert into high-value, profitable contracts, while also mentoring junior estimators and strengthening internal systems. If you're someone who can balance precision, strategy, and leadership, this is a high-impact seat. Focus Accurate & Competitive Estimates Produce detailed estimates aligned with plans, specifications, and addendums Ensure pricing reflects real market conditions while staying competitive Validate vendor and subcontractor pricing prior to submission Profitability & Risk Management Protect project margins through disciplined cost modeling Identify scope gaps, design issues, and quantity risks before submission Ensure estimates set operations up for successful execution Estimating Leadership & Team Development Mentor and review work of Junior Estimators Provide coaching on takeoffs, scope analysis, and estimating methods Help build standardized estimating processes and SOPs Responsibilities Review and qualify bid opportunities Perform plan reviews and oversee quantity takeoffs Gather and validate vendor and subcontractor pricing Build complete project estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and logistics Lead internal bid reviews with leadership Develop clear, professional proposals for submission Conduct bid follow-ups to improve win rates and market insight Analyze estimated vs. actual costs to improve future accuracy Document and improve estimating workflows and systems Success A consistent pipeline of competitive bids that convert into profitable work Accurate estimates that reflect real scope and minimize surprises in the field Strong vendor pricing and cost structures A growing, capable estimating team Improved estimating processes and consistency across the company
Qualifications Required:
5+ years of estimating experience in construction, landscaping, or related field Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and project documents Experience building full estimates (labor, materials, subs, equipment) Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
