Utilities, Power, Infrastructure Overview A leading utility provider is seeking an experienced Utility Estimator to support capital projects, maintenance programs, and infrastructure upgrades across the Detroit region. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong estimating capability, deep familiarity with utility operations, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, construction, and project management teams. Previous utility experience is heavily preferred due to the technical nature of the work and the need to understand utility standards, construction methods, and project sequencing. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed cost estimates for utility construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects Review engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes to determine labor, material, and equipment requirements Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare cost breakdowns for proposals, budgets, and capital planning Analyze vendor pricing, historical data, and market conditions to ensure accurate cost modeling Partner with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate scope assumptions Support bid preparation, RFP responses, and project forecasting Maintain estimating tools, cost databases, and documentation Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and standards Required Qualifications 5+ years of estimating experience in utilities, power, gas, telecom, civil construction, or related infrastructure sectors Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and cost modeling tools Solid understanding of construction methods, utility systems, and field operations Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work onsite in Detroit as part of a hybrid schedule Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with electric or gas utility projects (heavily preferred) Background in field operations, construction coordination, or project controls Familiarity with unit‑based estimating, labor productivity, and utility standardsSimilar remote jobs
