Satterfield Construction Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our Augusta Division team. This is an excellent opportunity for a project manager or construction professional looking to apply their field experience in a strategic, high-impact role with a dynamic, reputable, family-owned company that has proudly served the industry for more than 72 years. In this position, you will use your project knowledge to review plans and specifications, assess site conditions, and develop accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and quantity takeoffs related to dirt, pipe, and asphalt work—helping shape successful projects from the earliest stages. What You'll Do As an Estimator, you'll play a key role in helping secure and deliver successful construction projects by developing accurate, competitive bids and collaborating with project stakeholders from concept to award. Analyze plans, specifications, and project documents to develop complete cost estimates Perform quantity takeoffs for dirt work, underground utilities, and asphalt paving projects Prepare bids for commercial, municipal, and highway construction projects Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive proposals Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and identify potential challenges Collaborate with project managers, engineers, owners, and local agencies to understand project requirements and schedules Maintain organized estimating records, supporting documentation, and bid files Assist in project handoff activities to support a successful transition from estimating to operations What We're Looking For Experience estimating heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, utilities, and asphalt paving Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and project scheduling Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and computerized estimating data Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software preferred AutoCAD experience is a plus Willingness to travel to job sites and company locations as needed Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education and heavy civil construction estimating experience will be considered Previous estimating or project management experience in sitework, underground utilities, asphalt paving, roadway, or highway construction strongly preferred Why Join Us?
